Welcome to the Student Area. Before this, everything has been written by sensible conservative teachers. But not this. This has been written by your Prefects. It’s going to be like replacing Aslan with Captain Jack Sparrow…
So what’s this Narnia? Now really, there are worst places to be than ASHS…and no, this isn’t being written at gunpoint. Genuinely, there are worst places to be; concentration camps, torture chamber, private schools…
A school is only as awesome as its students (after all, without us there would be no schools) and boy, are we awesome.
There are after-school tutorials available run by teachers who actually know what they’re doing! And for free! Whether you need help on that English assignment you left til the day before or preparing to do the maths exam, these are good quality classes for all students.
The courses are awesome as well. You can take surfing as a subject! Imagine that, a double period of just surfing. There are other courses as well from Fishing, Outdoor Education and Recreation (great for those who aren’t fussed on mainstream sports, as well as those who are).
There are excursions to Perth to see the wonderful Australian landscape of our capital city for Geography classes; a cultural expedition indulging in the Perth International Arts Festival for both Upper School Drama and English Literature, a chance for these two subjects to interact and for friends to be made; and for our Marine Biologists to record important fishery data and to showcase this information to actual fishery businesses.
The best thing about being a student (and I’m sure all our Prefects agree) is Country Week. For one week, all cliques and groups merge into one formidable but friendly force: Albany Senior High School. We won last year. And the best thing is that you don’t need to be sporty. Yes, there is your fantastic football and basketball but there is also dance and speech and debate (I know what I prefer…just love dancing, me).
Throughout this website you will find lots of information and available through our intranet is a variety of things to help you with assignments. And this Student Page is also there to help. After all, what is a Student page for? (I’ll give you a clue; it’s in the name…). So check it out.
After all, it’s the students that make a school awesome. So hit the Library, PAT or Gym and be a student. Hold on school, it’s a brand new type of Narnia!
