Stage 1 Subjects
Economics (Personal Financial Management)
This is a life skills subject based around developing personal financial skills. Students will study Personal Economics and Finance which deals with different ways they can earn an income, budgeting and look at personal financial planning. Then the focus switches to Business Economics which looks at the ways to organise and run your own business.
Stages 2 and 3 Subjects
This is a subject for those interested in the economy and commerce. This course focuses on the individual’s behaviour as a player in the Australian economy. It will help students to understand the world of business, investments, profits and employment. It is a life skills subject which has applications for all individuals.
This is a subject for those with a genuine interest in History, and who want to develop written and analytical skills. Students investigative the nature of History, to experience what a historian does, to offer them an understanding of why their world is like it is, and to explain the relevance of history to their lives. Topics they focus on are the USA between the wars and Nazism in Germany.
Geography is for students interested in the interactions between humans and the environment and environmental processes. The focus is the delicate and changing balance between the natural environment and humans. Students study the variety of landforms that occur; they learn how humans are supported by the land and the natural systems that operate on it and the effect of human activity on the natural balance of these systems.
Philosophy and Ethics
The Philosophy and Ethics Course attempts to teach students how to improve their critical thinking skills, and how to analyse and construct an effective argument. The subject gives students a set of skills that better enables them to understand, evaluate and engage a range of practical situations in their personal, social and working lives.
